If I ever take a trip Down South, a restaurant that is always on my agenda is Muster in Margaret River. This is by far my favourite restaurant in the Margaret River region.
Now when this secret gem was originally opened, it was called “Must” as it had the same owners as Must Bar in Mount Lawley, Perth. However, this resulted in a few disappointed customers who expected it to be a carbon copy of the Mount Lawley version. Now Margaret River (around 45 mins from Dunsborough) is a relaxed, surfies town, so the owners had no intention of creating the same vibe as Must Bar in Perth; so they decided to change the name to Muster and it was given a fresh face, free of expectation and what a good decision this was, because it has now developed a unique and edgy vibe of its own.
This is one of those restaurants that you can walk into and every single waiter makes you feel welcome. The restaurant has an exquisite timber interior which creates a modern yet warm ambience. I can say without a doubt, that the oysters are the best oysters I have had yet in Western Australia. The kilpatric oysters are the definition of perfection. If you have anything, make sure you try these.
Honestly, I guarantee that you can order ANYTHING on the menu and it will be delicious. I have eaten there more than 10 times and I have never been disappointed. The menu changes slightly each time you go and there are always a list of specials based on the season.
The produce is fresh, the cocktails colourful and delicious, and you are surrounded by high quality wine and a fantastic French Waiter called “Pascal” who will be able to recommend the perfect wine to go with your meal. If you are staying in Dunsborough, take my word for it, it is worth the 40 minute drive. Make sure you book before you head there in the Summer.
